Arfsten Transfer, Inc. was founded by Dale and Leone Arfsten in Echo MN in early spring of 1954. In those days trucking in a small rural community meant hauling everything from livestock to grain, feed, garbage, implements and appliances from the railheads, and gravel. We did it all.

As the transportation industry changed so did ARFSTEN TRANSFER. Equipment got larger and more specialized. We continued to haul livestock, operated a hog buying station, hauled feed and grain. We even built some specialty pup trailers. Dale had some equipment leased to national carriers. Business was ever expanding until Dale’s health deteriorated. After years of suffering and treatments for arthritis, at the age of 47, Dale passed away in August of 1971.

At the estate auction Dennis bought one tractor and began operations as Arfsten Transfer by hauling sugar out of East Grand Forks and eventually shifting to grain and livestock serving the Echo, MN community. After six years of loading hogs and sore inflamed knees Dennis left the trucking industry to sell semi trailers.

In 1978 Dennis moved his family to Sebeka, MN. Having ventured into sales of cars, buildings, and semi trailers, and still not feeling he had found his career he decided to re-enter trucking. Borrowing against life insurance polices, he bought a new truck and leased to Hyman Freightways in August of 1981. In the fall of 1983 Dennis bought a new refrigerated trailer and painted ARFSTEN TRANSFER on the doors of the truck. Late in 1985, in preparation of expansion, ARFSTEN TRANSFER was incorporated into ARFSTEN TRANSFER, INC. We bought two new trucks and leased two more.

In 1989 operating six tractors and trailers we moved operations to Maple Lake, MN. We rented space in Maple Lake until 1992 when we purchased property in Kimball, MN. Kimball was our home until 2004.

We have completed the construction of a new building to house a new office and a truck repair facility. On April 4th 2004, 2244 197th St. E. Clearwater, MN 55320 became our new home. We now have infrastructure to accomodate expansion of our trucking services. We have also begun a much anticipated freight brokerage business and are anxious to begin repairing outside trucks and trailers.
